AAAA Starts Championship Season on High Note at D2's

AAAA Starts Championship Season on High Note at D2's

The past two weekends have been filled with fast and fun swimming. AAAA started the championship season on a high note. Mary Reed Weston, Simone Hehrily and Stephen Johnson led the way by finishing with at least one Gold Medal. Mary Reed Weston took home 3 gold medals in the 100 Free, 100 Back, and 200 Back. Mary achieved five D1 cuts over the weekend. Simone Hehrily added three D1 cuts over the weekend and also took home gold in the 100IM. Stephen Johnson also added three D1 cuts and finished first in the 50 backstroke dropping over 5 seconds.

We also want to recognize those that made it back to finals and represented AAAA in the Top 8. Several other AAAA swimmers came to race at D2’s finishing in the Top 3 and qualifying for the D1’s. Jarrod Arroyo finished 2nd and 3rd respectively in the 200IM and 100IM qualifying for D1’s. Jarrod also made it back to finals in all events that he competed in over the weekend. Marian Frick added the 50 fly and 100IM to her D1 schedule and also finishing 6th and 2nd. Kathryn Bach had an opportunity to race in the finals finishing 4th in the 50 fly and qualifying for D1’s. Eliot Eckersley added the 100 breaststroke for D1’s finishing 2nd in finals. Maggie McCalla qualified for her first D1 cut in the 100 fly, dropping 5 seconds overall and taking home the bronze medal.  Valentina Rivera qualifed for D1’s in the 200 backstroke finishing 4th in the finals.

There were also some great swims from AAAA Swimmers that had a great end of the season meet. Carter Stacey, Ben Maloun, and Macey Frost both swam best times and competed in finals session (Top 8) throughout the meet.

Brandon Bunting, Hannah Heatherman, Nick Maloun, Ben Maloun, Marisa Kearns, Grace McCalla, Elizabeth Mullins, Lucas Mullins, Rachel Nikolov, Smitha Ramesh, Susan Frick, Macey Frost, Riley Sirimongkhon-Dyck, and Carter Stacey all had a great culminating Championship Meet. Each swimmer swam personal best times and achieved several D2 cuts.  It was great to see all of their hard work pay off and to see successful swimming.

All of the momentum from D2’s carried right into Speedo Sectionals in Jenks, OK this past weekend. A recap about Speddo Sectionals is on the way!

Go AAAA!!
