AAAA Successful at First Meet of the Season

Successful Meet at Vorhees Maxfield

On April 28 and 29th, twenty-three AAAA swimmers competed in our first meet of the season in Topeka. There were over 600 swimmers around the area that competed in the meet.

This meet was very special for several AAAA swimmers, as it was their first time competing in a long course pool (50 Meters). Congrats to those swimmers that swam their first long course meet.

The first meet of the season was a success as there were AAAA times achieved, Zone cuts, Sectional Cuts and D1/D2 cuts.

The AAAA 13 and over swimmers swam very well swimming right on their personal best times. It was a great meet for long course training. Mary-Weed Weston and Oliver Tillinghast continued their best time streak from the winter season, as they both swam all personal best times. Mary came very close to achieving AAA Times. Oliver just aged up to 13-14, but still swam with his competition. David Christie, Canaan Campbell, and Cierra Campbell all finished in the top of their age groups in their events. Taylor Schoepf, Nick Maloun and Finneas Nesbitt-Daly swam all personal best times.

The 12 and under AAAA swimmer’s didn’t skip a beat from D1’s this winter. Danny Christie, Emily Venters and Claire Campbell lead the way. Danny Christie achieved another AAAA time standard and swam all personal best times. Emily and Claire continue to dominate the 11-12 girls age group swimming AAA times and personal bests and finishing in the top in their events. Stephen Johnson was ready to race, swimming AA times in backstroke and qualifying for D1’s. Janet Stefanov collected her first AAA time standard for the season in the 50 backstroke dropping over 2 seconds.

Marian Frick swam personal best times and achieved AA times in the breaststroke events. Ava Cormaney qualified for D2’s in all of her events that she swam on Sunday, swimming personal best times in all events. Faith Baxter, Rachel Nikolov, Smitha Ramesh, Maleena Hatfield and Christopher Pendry all did a great job swimming long course and swimming all personal best times. They all have been working hard at practice and you could tell it is paying off. They were all very close to achieving a D2 time standard.

Congratulations to all AAAA Swimmers that competed at Vorhees Maxfield Invitational. It was a great way to start our season!
