Team Dinner is this Wednesday at Godfathers. They are going to have a pizza and salad buffet ready for us at 7:30pm. They are going to charge us the lunch buffet price of $5.99 per person. Everybody will pay their own way - no need to collect money. Since the kids are preparing for the big meet, we will be setting out pitchers of water. If someone wants a soft drink they will be charged an additional $.70. Come join the fun!
I'm very excited to bring you news about our Spring Sectional meet. Our Team of Canaan Campbell, Emma Reaney, Heather Cistola, Lucy Sirimongkhon-Dyck, Gretchen Frick and Kayla Hedges did a fantastic job and placed 14th out of some 54 teams. On the Women's side, we were as high as 6th place with one day left. This made us the highest scoring team in Lawrence. At the MAL meet this past weekend a coach from another team approached me and said, "Coach, your kids are awesome... Just awesome." I wanted to say... AAAA's very own Emma Reaney earned two top 10 performances in the country this past season. Each year, USA Swimming recognizes the top 10 performances by age in each of the competitive events. As noted in Splash Magazine, Emma had the 10th fastest 200IM swim in the nation with a time of 2:00.86. She also had the 10th fastest time in the 200 Breaststroke with a time of 2:15.84.
